REUTERS/Christinne Muschi/File PhotoMONTREAL, Aug 3 (Reuters) - Canada's Bombardier Inc (BBDb.TO) on Thursday reported better-than-expected quarterly profit and higher revenue despite supply chain pressures, helped by demand for flying and maintaining private planes. The Montreal-headquartered business jet maker reported a second-quarter profit of $10 million from continuing operations, compared with a loss of $109 million a year earlier. CEO Eric Martel told analysts that despite "pressure points" such as smaller suppliers, the supply chain is improving and will "remain a key area of focus for the foreseeable quarters". Last month, Gulfstream jet maker Textron Inc (TXT.N) raised its full-year profit forecast on strong jet pricing. On a per share basis, quarterly adjusted profit was 72 cents, compared with a loss of 48 cents a year earlier.

watch nowVistaJet CEO Thomas Flohr defended his company's financial standing following reports that the fast-growing private charter jet company is facing liquidity and debt trouble. All documents and data was always available to our equity and debt holders," Flohr said. "We as a company, both shareholders and bondholders, [are] only focused on EBITDA, the cash creation of the company," Flohr said. That's as a private company the choice we're making as this conservative policy in place, but we might change it going forward." "Going forward, this infrastructure really allows us to grow the company from approximately $800 million EBITDA to $1.5 billion EBITDA," he said.

Surging fuel, inflation, and labor costs have sent private jet charter prices up significantly. It's a similar story for flyExclusive, another private jet charter firm. "So far it hasn't negatively impacted demand," Seagrave tells Insider, but admits that further price rises may have an impact sooner or later. For flyExclusive passengers, fuel represents between a quarter and 37% of the charter cost, Seagrave tells Insider. VistaJet runs a membership service which means its customers pay an hourly fee, but they still have to pay a fuel surcharge, Qi says.
